Official details of farewell, funeral, and burial processions for martyred Leader of Islamic Revolution announced
TEHRAN – Iman Attarzadeh, the spokesperson for the farewell and funeral ceremonies of the late Imam and martyred Mujahid, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, announced detailed plans for the upcoming commemorations, emphasizing that the expected public turnout is unprecedented in the past 47 years. Attarzadeh stated that meticulous planning is underway to accommodate millions of mourners.

Detailing the scope of the events, Attarzadeh stated that immediately following the martyrdom, the National Headquarters for the funeral and commemoration of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution was established at the highest level, chaired by the First Vice President. Specialized working groups, coordinated by the Ministries of Roads and Urban Development, Interior, and Foreign Affairs, alongside the Office for the Preservation and Publication of the Leader’s Works, have finalized comprehensive arrangements for the ceremonies.

Attarzadeh underscored the unparalleled scale of the anticipated crowds, noting that the intensity of public desire to participate exceeds any other event in the last four decades. Consequently, the national headquarters has mobilized all governmental capacities, revolutionary institutions, and armed forces to host the mourners. He highlighted the spontaneous and creative initiatives taken by the Iranian people, such as the “Every House a Hosseiniyeh” campaign, which has emerged to provide accommodation and hospitality for those traveling to pay their respects.

International Dimension of the Farewell

Regarding international participation, the spokesperson noted that plans are in place for political leaders, intellectuals, and religious figures from various nations to pay their respects. This presence, he said, conveys a clear message to the world regarding the greatness and resilience of the school of the martyred Imam and its continuation within the Resistance Front. He further added that the people of Iraq, supported by their senior religious authorities, political figures, and various social strata, have formally requested to host the body of the martyred Imam in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. Similar commemorations are also being organized by followers of the Imam’s school of thought across the globe, including in Pakistan and Turkey.

Funeral Schedule: Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad

The farewell ceremony for the martyred Leader is scheduled to commence on Saturday, July 4, at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla in Tehran and will continue for two days. The funeral procession in Tehran is set for Monday, July 6. Funeral prayers for the martyred Leader will be held in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad.

Attarzadeh noted that extensive traffic management, transportation, and accommodation plans have been implemented for the Tehran procession due to the massive crowds expected. Specialized support from neighboring provinces has also been secured. Final details regarding the procession route in Tehran will be announced by the municipal authorities in the coming days. Additionally, special cultural and artistic programs have been prepared to accompany the funeral, with details to be disclosed next week.
