Leader’s representative condemns attack on Martyrs’ Archives, stresses duty to safeguard national identity
TEHRAN – Hojjat al-Islam Seyyed Ramazan Mousavi Moghadam, the Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution at the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation, along with Deputy Head for Cultural and Educational Affairs, Yaghoub Soleimani, visited the Martyrs’ Documentation Center and the specialized Library of Martyrdom and Sacrifice on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, to assess the facility’s status following recent attacks.

Accompanied by Saeed Ganji, the Director General of Documents and Publications at the Foundation, the officials inspected the archive and audio-visual department located in the former building of the Foundation’s Cultural and Educational معاونت (Deputyship).

During the inspection, Saeed Ganji provided a report on the center’s status following the enemy’s aerial bombardment, asserting that, thanks to divine grace and the dignity of the martyrs, no damage was sustained by the center’s collection, which houses over 9 million original documents related to the martyrs.

“Specialized units have been working around the clock since the moment of the impact to secure and protect this facility,” Ganji stated. “We are currently coordinating with relevant departments within the Foundation to transfer these invaluable artifacts to the Foundation’s central headquarters.”

Following the visit, Hojjat al-Islam Mousavi Moghadam emphasized the necessity of safeguarding these “valuable treasures” in an interview with the Navid Shahed news agency. “This aggression constitutes a blatant attack on the knowledge, beliefs, identity, and future of the Iranian nation,” he remarked. “By targeting these documents, books, and records of the sacrifice community, the enemy seeks to distort and destroy the history and culture of this land.”

For his part, Yaghoub Soleimani, the Deputy Head for Cultural and Educational Affairs, stated that the enemies of Iran have bombarded and encroached upon over 150 historical and cultural centers during the ongoing conflict.

“This center has been a hub for publication, cultural development, and engagement for the honorable community of veterans and martyrs’ families,” Soleimani noted. “These brutal attacks on a portion of our written and auditory heritage constitute documented war crimes, and legal and international follow-up on this matter must be prioritized.”

The Deputy Head further urged for the acceleration of the relocation process for the documents, audio archives, and the specialized library, assuring researchers and the public that research services will continue to be provided without interruption.
