Martyr Mohsen Hassanpour: Cleric and IRGC Member Tortured by SAVAK
Martyr Mohsen Hassanpour, who was both a cleric and an IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) member, began his activities by distributing leaflets of Imam Khomeini (RA) at the start of the Islamic Revolution, leading to his arrest and torture by SAVAK (the former secret police). After his release, he joined the fronts and was eventually martyred.

According to NavideShahed, Martyr Mohsen Hassanpour was born on May 22, 1963 (1st of Khordad 1342 SH) in Qazvin. His father, Muslim, was an IRGC member, and his mother was Khatoon. He studied until the second year of junior high school before enrolling in the Salehiyeh Seminary in Qazvin, where he completed up to the second level (Resa’el and Makasib) in Theology and Islamic Studies, becoming a cleric.

At the beginning of the Islamic Movement, this esteemed martyr actively distributed the leaflets of Imam Khomeini (RA), which resulted in his arrest and torture by SAVAK.

Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Martyr Hassanpour joined the Committee and later the IRGC. With the start of the Imposed War, he joined the battlefronts of right against wrong as an IRGC officer. He served for three months on the Simak front before moving to the western fronts to fight against American counter-revolutionaries.

Less than fourteen days after his arrival in Sardasht, he was martyred on July 13, 1981 (22nd of Tir 1360 SH) during a clash with anti-revolutionary groups due to a gunshot wound. His pure body is interred in the martyrs’ section of his hometown cemetery. His brother, Reza, was also martyred.
