Teachers: The Flag Bearers of Wisdom and Identity

On May 2nd, the 46th anniversary of the martyrdom of the eminent thinker and scholar, Martyr Professor Morteza Motahhari, and the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week are commemorated in Iran. These events honor the dedicated efforts of the nation’s intellectual men and women who educate and nurture the youth with values of ethics and knowledge.

Martyr Motahhari vividly described the role of martyrs as candles whose self-sacrifice lights the path for others, saying, “Martyrs are the candles of humanity’s gathering.” Their sacrifice provides a safe environment for scholars, philosophers, inventors, and educators to serve society.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has emphasized the critical role of teachers as the most influential force in the country’s cultural and scientific progress. He stated that teachers bear the vital responsibility of imparting knowledge, enhancing skills, and shaping the identity of future generations.

During the recent imposed war, 67 teachers and 279 students were martyred, reflecting the profound sacrifices made by the education community in preserving social stability, peace, and nurturing the future of Iran.

The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs is fully committed to providing educational opportunities nationwide for the children of martyrs and veterans. Their goal is to ensure that these young successors continue to uphold the values and legacy of the Islamic Revolution.

Dr. Soleimani expressed hope that with the dedication of all educators and professors, Iranian society will progress towards a dynamic, Islamic future aligned with the ideals and guidance of the Supreme Leader.
